Dysphagia Disorders Workshops as design by Dr Justine Joan Sheppard

The School of Health and Social Development is proud to present this series of workshops as developed by world-renowned scholar and researcher in feeding and swallowing disorders, Dr Justine Joan Sheppard.
Prior to her death in early 2018, Dr Sheppard was an Honorary Adjunct Associate Professor in the Communication and Communication Disorders program, Department of Biobehavioral Sciences at Teachers College, Columbia University, and had presented many training workshops in the USA, Canada, Australia New Zealand Singapore and Europe. Joan was a world leader in Dysphagia and pioneered dysphagia assessment and treatment for people with disability.
Attendees can choose to attend singular workshops, or attend all 3 days at a discounted rate.
Day 1: The Certification Workshop (1 day) for the Revised 2013 edition of:
• The Dysphagia Disorders Survey (DDS);• The Dysphagia Management Staging Scale (DMSS);• The Choking Risk Assessment (CRA);• The Pneumonia Risk Assessment (PRA)Along with other DDS modules to support your clinical work.
Day 2: Understanding and improving swallowing and feeding function in children and adults with I/DD: Transition feeding to safe, mature skills.
Day 3: Understanding and treating swallowing and feeding disorder in children with Cerebral Palsy.
